Conducted academic research through URVI Foundation's Training and Research Centre to identify limitations of traditional earth construction, including skilled labour shortages, material scarcity, climatic challenges, and economic constraints.
Documented and analyzed Kerala's soil types, identifying their suitability for different earth construction technologies and making earthen construction accessible across diverse regions.
Developed five earth-based technologies:
Rammed Earth Panel System
Poured Earth Panel System
Junkob Panel System
Optimized soil mix designs based on scientific soil investigations
Earth-based 3D printing technology derived from vernacular construction knowledge
Tested Kerala soils for 3D printing through technology partners, collaborated with Indian 3D printing companies to develop working prototypes, and initiated a residence-scale earth-based 3D printed prototype.
Prototype presented at Down to earth village: Earth-based 3D printed walls for the Rivership Staycay project.
